Seeing the main character, Zhang Zian, is like seeing the man on the Clapham Omnibus. Your MC, barred by the eponymous magical-esque pet's app, are what you call an average person, personified. Yes, he is a good samaritan, and help when he able, however those good deeds never define him. He isn't some guy that need to sacrifice everything including himself to prove a point to the world, or an overbearing youth with the middle school 2nd Year Syndrome induced illusion of grandeur. He's a bit scrooge and hate spending money. He, like many men of his age still thinking that finding a girlfriend is the purpose of life. He is a bit crass, he crack a joke and curse. He fake acting cool to his unaware customer, friend, and employee. He has vice(s). And That make him human. Character, personality, and their development were the centerpiece of this novel. You won't find a big bad plot to move thing along, railroading you through the emotion of absolute moral high ground. In here you would found even the most galling villain were never beyond redemption. That all conflict have roots. And sometimes, sometimes... those roots were the inevitability of the clashing interest in this resource-scarce world. Pet King deal with the subtle. The presented emption were never low down unquenchable despair or the high pure bliss of intermittent happiness. The author present the story of hapless sigh, when you shout your lung out, and curse out to the absurd. Ironically, unlike the supposed "game element" of Zhang Zian's pet app. The unfortunate fate of the life fickleness must be braved and through everyday, the bad roll of horrible past must be confronted, the will and want must be compromised, and that some people is horrible were very real. And despite the supposed magical-ness, the elf-ness, the mystique, supercharged ability of the supposed miracle app, the characters would often find out, there's no one stop solution. No omnipotence. No universal truth that promise an happily ever after. Grandma Tea, in her abrupt waking from the dream of utopia, told us that to live, we must begin from ourselves. And those morality were woven in a symphony of a masterwork. It's like chinese boring's political course, that keeping the population thought being an idealist is ludicrous. It likes McDonald happy meal's toy, making you associate their product with plastic toy, and subsequently, joy at one's formative age. A masterwork slipped their teaching like a good Aesop, you'll never realize it's there.
