He's correct, though, barely. What bothers me is that chinese authors make a big deal out of it being chinese people. Western authors wouldn't think about it, and therefore not mention it. But it seems like chinese authors often discrimate against us westerners and generally somehow have a belief that they're better because they're chinese. It bother's me because it's similar to racismn, just very subtly implied. Like it's ingrained in their very personality.

The issue is how "in your face" so to speak the nationalism is placed in a lot of Chinese webnovels. It detracts from potentially great setting (at least for the readers from other countries). For example "I’m Really a Superstar" starts out great and then it just goes off the rails into full blown nationalism. It's somewhat understandable considering the original intended audience (i.e. Chinese market) and censorship shenanigans but it's annoying. IMO, if it was toned down a bit it, it would be more palatable.

I'm way beyond early chapters, about racism - i believe i wasn't bothered by it since i don't remember anything about it. Though i'm sure you'll find racism if you look for it.
