Readers Be Warned: NTR ahead. However, for those of you who have enough sense to understand that a 'tag' isn't a true reflection of a story's quality (and that most of the people who review this don't even bother reading the thing)... ...It's still pretty **** (for me at least). Here's why: Story is generally slow-paced, especially the first few hundred chapters. While the mini-arcs of the story are relatively fast-paced, there's just so much going on that the main story itself doesn't gain significant progress. I blame this on all the political drama it keeps advocating. MC has a generic personality (cares for his friends, cunning, etc. Like every other Chinese novel MC out there), which takes a turn for the worse later on in the story. I won't spoil anything, but let's just say he's not the most admirable person in the world. While the premise of the story is rather interesting (you have taoists, monks, demonic creatures, devils, etc), it's still pretty one-dimensional in the sense that you don't need a brain to understand what is going on. But then again, almost every other Chinese novel have this trait. (Emphasis on the every, not the almost) The only interesting part, I would say is the way these different factions interacted with one another. The concept of racial politics is rarely touched upon in other Chinese novels, and I like that this story even bothers bringing it up. TLDR; Interesting setting for story; poor development Decently compelling mini-arcs and battles; slow progress of main story Generic MC; not the best dude later on Giving a story a 1 star review because of NTR is about as relevant as giving every other story a 5 star review because of harem (If I wanted to fap, I would watch **** instead, not read a novel)
