Review Detail of LostEra in Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

Review detail

LostEra

This story starts out as most cultivation stories only with a different, more futuristic, world building than most. But it quickly turns into a totally different kind of cultivation story than what we're used to. The futuristic setting has a lot to do with it but what I like most is that the story does not follow the regular pattern of "arrive at stage, accidentally insult someone, face slap someone, revenge from someone and his backing, total whipeout of someone, move to next stage and repeat". The MC surprisingly rarely has to fight to kill other humans so far.

Yeah, but in exchange for that, there's absolutely no action or *******. There are never ANY stakes. Or antagonists. Or plot for that matter. As for face, there's plenty of writing that pettily makes him gain some for absolutely no reason.

It depends on how you define 'action' and what are your acceptable intervals between 'action'. If you're looking for a novel where a fight happens every 1 or 2 chapters, and with fight I mean comparing skills in martial arts and not comparing skills in weapon refining, than you're right than the action is limited. If you count in the fights the mc has with other weapon refiners and sects(read companies) than there is quite a lot of action and antagonists. And once you arrive at the later chapters, chapter 335 and higher, the amount of weapon refining reduces and changes more in McGuyver style of refining while the fighting is completely cultivation and martial arts based and there is a strong antagonist. In short this is a cultivation novel that concentrates as much on martial arts as onweapon refining . What I find refreshing is that not all opponents turn into you die or I die of characters. Some become friendly rivals and some become unfriendly rivals but still fighting for the same cause. But I can imagine that for some this too tame and not hot headed enough or that the weapon refining and special training that surrounds the fighting inthe first 300 chapt

By action, I mean arcs where he fights all the time, I don't really see how comparing refining skills could possibly count as action. The problem is that when he fights, he always gets away scot-free, it doesn't feel like there's any stake to him fighting, it's not much different from him taking, say, a writing exam. The fights are never a matter of endurance, where he gets injured, has reduced capabilities but has to pull through. He just fights once, then he can still easily retreat. I have read 170+ chapters and I still don't see any plot, smaller plot points and plot advancement. Does the antagonist come later or are you making some BS "the demon beast king is the antagonist, you just don't know it yet" I'm just so fcking bored, this novel is hundreds upon hundreds of chapter of downtime, except, the high-action high-******* never happen or last incredibly shortly and nothing ends up happening that matters.

To me the refining battles are action too because for me a battle in martial arts is as much a battle as a fight between weapon refining masters, it's just a different way of comparing skills. I understand that not everyone sees it like this but to me there is not much difference. But since you've asked some spoilers than here are some

Unfortunately the app's way of entering text is very buggy so I have to respond in parts. Some of the things that happen after he enters university. He manages to rebuild the refining department, he becomes the strongest student in an epic 1 vs 2000 fight, he gets his refining license in a very interesting fight between refining masters, he refines a race car and wins some races. And the battles that you are waiting for start around the same time when he is sent to crystal suit training. And at the end of the training he meets the main antagonist (a demon lion youth) who keeps encountering in epic battles that even go to different dimensions and crossing the void. But you have to keep in mind that refining weapons is just as important as fighting and if you find that boring than this novel is not for you (I have started reading a lot of those novels, 90% of the male led stories on webnovel.com are like that, but stopped with a lot of them because they are all the same and have similar story lines but if that are the kind of stories you like then webnovel.com is the right place)

And here is part 3: he quite often gets hurt, far more often than the usual mc because of his recklessness. In the entrance exam he got hurt so badly that he didn't wake up for a month and was deemed unable to enter university. During the final fight in the crystal suit training camp he also gets hurt a lot and once they visit other world fragments he gets hurt so often that it is difficult to keep up (adventuring with your girlfriend generates those situations more often)

he didn't actually get hurt in the university entrance exam. He took a mental attack that would've lobotomized most people and all he got was his futuristic dantian shredded because the soul was too much for it to handle and so it had to tear itself to grow even more. You could also see him getting hurt as him taking losses, important artifacts breaking, etc...

Uh, if you dont mind spoilers then here it is. After he met the demon prince (lion demon something) the action escalated. I mean, he fights in crazy world fragments and stuff and finally got transported to a seemingly very far galaxy (whatever they called it) and then he must face antagonists at the level of his nation leaders. And these antagonists are called space pirate, which mean most likely the fight is going to turn into a death match situation if they ever met. But yeah, if you are bored go ahead to drop this
