exactly my conclusion right before I dropped the novel, it has true potential to be better but the author simply stagnates it's overall progress for the sake of trying to make the protagonist as horrible a human being as possible and it just makes me stray further away from my initial likeness for him

Bro MC is not a villain, He is a pure Hypocrite. Not every random clown and evil person deserve the title of Villain. Just like hero, the title of Villain also belongs to few people. And this MC isn't one of them. This MC is Hypocrite, ungreatful and backstabber.

what are you guys talking about? You guys just dismissed a way of thinking most of the important people in today's world adopt. you just dismiss it thinking you are super smart but you guys are not super smart, you are just ignorant. I don't agree with Nick's way of thinking, and I am not a good of a person like him. But, Nick had a pretty stable sense of morality it is just that for him "the end justifies the means". He is definitely not a hypocrite. He is just very very truthful to himself
