Regardless of the variation, what interests me above all is the immersion in these fictional worlds: their ability to captivate, the charisma of the protagonist, the stimulating obstacles (whether present or absent), the gradual evolution of the protagonist, and the satisfaction provided by the final resolution accompanied by an appealing reward. Well-structured storytelling, accompanied by intriguing secondary characters, pleasant writing style, deep themes, and a touch of originality and creativity, are also important (but not mandatory) criteria. In other words, whether a story presents a protagonist with exceptional skills, stimulating obstacles, a consistent progression punctuated by rewarding moments, or simply a pleasant balance between ease and tension, all of these fully meet my expectations.
