I don't agree. ML is very stupid / naive in wooing girls. He even read books but still didn't understand hence asked the Hong lady for help. The Hong lady took this opportunity to ruin FL and ML's relationship even before it started by tricking ML, teaching him wrong way. Thus the scene you describe about.
