I always liked time magic stories, for the moment beside future vision, one time rewind from a god and a hint that he can stop time we haven't really seen any other time related magic. For the rest I can't say too much, the first 5 chapters are basically a prologue, intriguing and setting up a strong foundation, but we don't really see many characters, and Raymond seems to be going through many changes and realizations, so I can't judge his character either, but just because he is able to grow, is a good sign for the writer.
