First of all, it is a period novel and life was like that back then. People did not have any rights and and it was common to sell oneself to be a slave if you couldn't have an income (as the protagonist did). As for forcing her to marry, as everyone who has read a lot of chinese novels knows, most of the time the summaries have nothing to do with the actual plot and if they do, it's not in the literal sense. I don't know what is going to happen in the story, but what I do know is that in order to write a review, first you must have read the published chapters and not just the summary, out of respect for the person who has taken the trouble to translate them. Otherwise, your opinion is just misleading.
