The First Law of Fan Fiction: Every change which strengthens the protagonist requires a corresponding worsening of his challenges. Or, to put it plainly, you cannot make Harry Potter a Jedi without giving Lord Voldemort the Death Star. Read any book on writing and it will tell you that stories are all about conflict. A hero who is so strong that his conflicts are no longer problems is no longer in a story worth reading. The most fatal temptation of fan fiction is to think of how much easier your character's life would be if he was super-powered. We are naturally inclined to think of ways to solve our characters' problems for them. But first we much think of ways to make their lives more difficult. - Worldmaker.

it probably never made it to view but this is what i wrote [[[[[that's the most horrible example you could have come up with if harry is a jedi give voldemort a power from that world as well ... that's basically the thing every fanfiction reader hates with a passion when people want to read a fanfiction about the MC having an otherwordly power, they want him to be the only unique person with it no fanfiction reader ever wants to read a world where the MC isn't unique lol, why read a fanfiction then? the original would be better at that point that's the reason people hate OCs as well, because they want to read about a unique MC, the only one with cheats in a world they already understand what you described is basically the opposite of what most fanfiction readers want to read about that's just what you want to read]]]]]]

This is so wrong, the point of a Fanfiction is that fact that you can make whatever you want without pepole like you telling the author what to do!

I can see why people make theories like that, but personally I sit in the opposite camp, I just like to see MCs shock and faceslap the og setting left and right with super OP cheats and powers that they have no business showing off in the setting they are currently in, dominating and having a great and easy time all the way. You might find it shallow but I find it pure entertainment.

I agree with that in most cases. I would argue that Slice of Life stories don't necessarily need more konflict, because the whole point of that genre is exploring the routine life of a character and the intereaction with other characters. There is even a trope about absolutely overpowered characters in a slice of life story going about their ordinary life and occasionally saving the day

One-Punchman called, he says he disagrees with that law. It's okay for one type of audience, but then there's an audience that prefers character interaction and slice of life type of stuff, where combat is just sort of there to add a bit of spice so its ok to have it be easy.

I am definitly an outlier with my opinion, but I always liked OC's and I also kinda want to read a Story where the MC has a Group of similarly powerful friends, who are not that powerful cause they are friends with MC But by their own merits and talents
