It does deliver on it's most promising aspect, which is a "evil protagonist", although the introduction to the novel was very enjoyable to read. It failed to deliver after he moves on to Lin clain where everyone, starting 100 year old geezer to the husband of his own adoptive mother seem to have irreconcilable fued with the protagonist who is just simply a 4 year old and starting from that point on it's constant "uncaring protagonist let's young master berate him for a chapter and then face slaps him and his bodyguard in a awe-inspiring manner". Although the cliche is less used in later last few chapters, it's already clear that only a few people sticked and they lost majority of readers which probably led to the abandonment of this novel.
