I liked the premise, especially the fact that the protagonist always puts his freedom in the first place, but the romance spoiled everything, the protagonist is a person who values freedom but even so he stuck to love

It is most likely a single pairing, and I say that with 99,9999999% confidence. I don't think that I will pair him up with someone else besides Jean but it's a long story and some things may change in the future, though it is very unlikely.

Why introduce laura in such a way then? It just destroyed everything the story has build.
