the family is indeed cliche(though they barely get mentioned after a while) but there is only like 2 quests that mention a threat of death that both have a secondary lose condition that he easily meets making the death part irrrelevant

No, they aren't forced. A good plot should feel natural. It should feel like "under the parameters that have been set, this outcome is very possible or within expectations."
