The writing is descriptive and verbose, with exceptional scene building. The story has great depth, and it ties in nicely with world development. The biggest issue I have are the characters, the irony and stupidity. The most memorable quote, and the highpoint of the novel was the betrayal, against his former captor, but also saviour, during his first nightmare. Though I can't quite remember the words verbatim, it described how pathetic it would be for a slave to find solace in his captor. Fast forward, to his most glaring weakness being revealed, and becoming a slave himself, yet doing the exact thing he preached against. Bringing it even further by revering his master, how pathetic does one need to be? He should have silenced them when he had the chance, now his most vital secrets are no longer his own, yet he continues to reconciliate while their grasp on his manhood only continues, truly a slave in the end, both in character and resolve. Reverential treatment of any person is despicable, yet they go even further as to discriminate against all men, simps as they are colloquially referred to are bottom of the barrel, it's the lack of self respect that I find particularly vile. An issue of great prevalence in Asia, where these losers appear in droves, where they allow themselves to be trampled over and disregarded, while gleefully playing their role.
