So first I want to preface my review by saying that this is definitely a great novel. It has amazing world building, a unique power system, and believable characters. However, I do have a big problem with this novel. It's not so much an objective criticism towards anything the author has written themselves, more just a personal dislike for a certain aspect in the story. *Minor Spoilers ahead* In general I really dislike it when a Mc's fate is basically out of his own hands. The mc here is, as the title implies, a slave. It's a very unique concept for an Mc and I can see many people liking the struggle of the mc walking on a tightrope where one mistake could lead to him losing his freedom. I, however, do not. I have a hard time caring about anything the Mc does when I know none of matters (in my mind). Even if he becomes some godly being, it doesn't matter when a single order from his master can end his life. Any meaningful relationships he makes can be immediately ended by the whims of his master. Where I am at in the story, he has yet to gain a master, but (assuming he will indeed have a master) I have a good idea of who it will be and I dont really like the idea of it. So you could say the story just isn't for me which is why I still gave it 4 stars as I realize the high quality of writing, despite my personal dislike for a specific element of the story.

LIKEI think you are right. I may come back to the novel in the future when he's freed himself and binge a bunch of chapters at a time, but for now its a bit frustrating to read for reasons mentioned. It's like, I logically know that he will probably free himself in the future, but emotionally I still can't help but feel frustrated when reading and that's not what I want to feel while reading.
Daoistaldo7:I actually had similar feelings regarding that as well, but I feel like just because someone starts as a slave, doesn't mean they'll circome to fate and watching him actually fundamentally try and change is fascinating .
