Finished Ch.14 before review I liked the beginning and what lead to the world change but personally I just didn’t like how constantly tortured the MC was. I get bottom most rung and rising to power but he just seems so utterly useless that other than wanting revenge there doesn’t seem to be any reason for him to be chosen as a demon king candidate. There is nothing to make me want to keep reading, nothing to make me be engrossed by the MC and their story, and no promise to more power anytime soon. Besides that’s my opinion clearly you can believe differently but just know that at least for the first 14-15 chapters it’s rough to get through if it gets any better.

Quick add on I get that I stopped pretty early so if it truly does get better I may be convinced to pick it back up and change/delete my review.

Indeed. Since this story focused on a character development, I intentionally make our MC useless and annoying—the latter, many people have pointed out XD. If you can bear until chapter 35, you will find a noticeable change of his demeanor, and what those torture he had received did to him. His character, of course, is still not developed at that point—it will be in the future—but, you will find him less annoying and unfamiliar. Anyway, thank you for giving it a chance😘

Nah, you don't need to feel bad. If you don't like it, you don't. I have ever had an experience like this. I read a story that didn't sit quite right with me, dropped it early, regretted that I dropped it due to how awesome the development was, read it again, and surrendered halfways the moment I realized why I didn't like it😸

Yeah that’s BS you don’t actually change his character at all you just use his origin as a plot device to make him act out of character forcefully but not actually changing who he is at all which is beyond stupid especially when you consider that what he did to gain his origin was supposed to remove that as a possibility

I will assume that you hate his cowardly side, so I will say this. Had you kept reading, you would know how pumped he is whenever he gets the chance to face a strong opponent—the chance to gain more power. He doesn't change instantaneously, but the development will be satisfying. As of now, he even takes up an important role in a battle with the Dark Elves. Is he still weak? Compared to his Hero friends, yes; but he doesn't require anyone's protection to get himself out of a pinch anymore. In fact, he has even killed a Hero that wasn't his friend in a duel.

Yes his cowardliness does bother me because it’s a product of fear something that you have said time and time again that he has gotten over only to immediately have him go and fear something and I never once asked for an instantaneous change I just wanted the change to make sense which isn’t really possible when you have so much stupidity flying around And I know it sounds harsh and it is but for the most part this is just how I talk so don’t take offense to it

What changed him, in the end, is not his Origin, but the battle he goes through and his journey. Have you read until the part where he sets off on his journey? That marks the beginning of his change and mindset development. While his Origin affects him to be more daring, that's all what it does to him. It's just a catalyst for him change. Lastly, about taking an offense, I don't. As a writer, I am open to criticism. I would've stopped being one long ago if I couldn't take people's rant and criticism. It helps me grow as a writer, and also allows me to know what kind of story that people like to read. Have a nice day!😄

Soooo ... To put it short and simple: novel is designed to be about character development. But there is no real development and never will be. Author just like MC the way he is and simply let him pretend to be "better" and throw him into trials, that only helps our antihero to learn how to act better.
