I think the problem is that he already got the power... so it being sealed just feels dumb. Like, you could make him just go into the game and he has to find everything again would be one thing... but to make him the highest level and just not able to use it feels stupid. You know?

from a storytelling perspective there is only one reason why that mechanism is put in and that is to make the fights have some suspense and to add a sense of urgency to developing the sect because there are still things that could endanger the sect. Having said that the way the story is written it is very clear that there is never any danger to the mc because of the enormous amount of plot armor. Anyway I suspect that if the author had to change the reason for why he can't absorb all the gathered cultivation in one go the author would probably have found a different reason to throttle his cultivation speed (eg he doesn't get the million years of cultivation directly but gets enough energy to cultivate very fast with every daily login).
