Go for it, thought the idea was a bit interesting. Tell ya what, if you wanna do the whole gender changing thing and not be weird about it, how about changing his race to that of some type of symbiote or slime or something. At least in this way, you won't be looked down upon for that as a genderless being that can change genders is pretty fine.
