it's not a bad idea, but why does every story lately have to start with a protagonist who sucks?, or "lame/no talent". I'm already tired of this genre, it's getting very repetitive almost like the Chinese novels. like, where is the creativity?? it's very copy and paste

its the zero-to-hero trope, it's easier to show character progression and development from a weak loser to someone with a social life and power, it's much harder to show character development for an OP character (as you can only make them more OP or go the one punch man route, making it a comedy with no character development, unless you wan't to go slice of life instead) or a smart, cunning character like lee kiyoung (from regressor instruction manual) for example, the character development is a lot more subtle as while you want their character to develop, you don't want it to be inconsistent. sorry for how long this is
if anyone has somethign to add or correct that would be nice, I knida of want this to be a dicussion as I dont believe im 100 percent correct as it could vary from person to person, and I only write essays for school and poems.

well it's easier to do cliches but if your looking for something that isn't about an Mc who is a loser suddenly getting a lot of talent with an rpg setting try reggrosor instruction manual the Mc is pretty weak and doesn't even get a lot of talent, he gets one really good appraisal Skill, and not like those stupid Japanese one where the appraisal Skill can copy skills or techniques, there's really diverse chracaters
