I agree on the personality part. After the first {redacted to avoid spoiler} at that Mayan temple, it's like his personality started shifting ina subtle but not too good manner. still a good book but...

it's a love hate thing I love how cool the construction of the mc is with the back story future possibilities and image. I hate a lot of his choices towards the biggining and middle the mindset he has to forge over the 1000 + chapters. I respect the authors choice in doing it this way but it can cause a lot of ppl without patients to drop the story
