I never understand the need for authors to genderbend characters or transmigrating a male person into a female one and vice versa. I mean is it too much to ask if you just transmigrate the same gender.

they don’t need a reason at all. people enjoy gender bender stories, including myself. i find gender bender stories just as fun, sometimes even more fun than stories that have the protag stay the same gender. and in the case of MtF gender bender stories, it allows male authors to way more easily write and make the characters seem realistic, since the author knows how it is to live as a male, and not a female.
