he did commit a crime without any evidence. Only thing police got on him is he place a pencil on a trash can. Now if that pencil drops and causes an accident that's just act of god. So yeah police has no evidence against him.

Anyone would smile when they finally get the chance to have an easy revenge, some people even find satisfaction from it. Think about it, his gf is in a coma and he was in jail for five years due to one guy framing him. I would probably smile even more, to the point that I would look funny and crazy
