I was enjoying reading this book until the mc was magically enslaved by someone who was supposed to be his master and the other characters which are supposed to protect him allow it to happen for no reason. They even try to frame it as something that needs to happen despite everything up until that point screaming otherwise. Maybe other people could continue to enjoy the book despite that happening, but if it was me in the mc’s position I would have wanted either her or myself to die and I would have settled for both which completely ripped me out of the ability to enjoy what was originally a fun light-hearted story.

well I feel like you skimmed pass a lot of things maybe a chapter or two because everything was explained. and people were angry about it but since it was only temporary for a few years and the debt he owed among the fact that they knew his master won't hurt him they let it slide. Besides doing ordinary disciple things the master doesn't make him do anything slave like

Makes it worse since he is actually happy about it.

then why enslave him in the first place. it's a matter of principle

mainly because he needs to learn to defend against against that spoiler magic. and since thats pretty much torture best have a way to make sure they dont run. All mages of those type do it for good reason. and principle make no sense here. and principle definitely doesn't make sense in an alternate world.

The reason I gave a 1 star review wasn’t because the story was poorly written, or uninteresting. I gave a 1 star review because I had a strong emotional reaction to reading that part of the book and I wanted to inform other potential readers that might react similarly to myself. Like maybe you’ll think I’m exaggerating but I genuinely felt suicidal in real life for a few hours after reading that part. Feel free to enjoy the story if you didn’t have that emotional reaction.

Well, I did write that chapter to invoke strong emotions to the readers. I apologize if that triggered an extreme reaction from you. The reason why your review is still here is because I understand that many people had reacted strongly to the enslavement chapter. I wish I could have written that part better and made it a less "stressful" experience for all of you, but I'm still an amateur so you received those emotions without any filter. Well, anyway, like I said. Thank you for reading. Perhaps in the future, you can pick up where you left and discover for yourself that the so-called "enslavement" is not really a big deal as you people think it is. I'm not giving any spoilers though. Discover it for yourself.

Maybe you should put a warning sign

No need. If they can't take it then they can move on. I'm not forcing anyone to read. Only those that knows true suffering can experience what true happiness is.

Don't listen to these kids talking about how it "evoked a strong reaction" from them, I have read many a book/novel with far more heinous situations, and I actually feel that, that particular plot added a little something more. Well done author, and keep it up. ~FS

Well, I'm glad I didn't start this then. I'm out. Peace.

im kinda at odds here... I dont mind if the mc is slaved, tortured, etc. But the mc must at least try to defend himself or find a way to stop being a slave and at the very least, resent those who betrayed his trusts, and not just accept the fact that he is now a slave and get used to it. Was the situation something like, i must slave you for some time to protect you kind of thing?

The surface level explanation is mc interrupted the person that enslaved him while they were doing something important and cost them expensive stuff. Of course he interrupted them because the village was about to be slaughtered by monsters and there’s probably a deeper hidden reason, but to answer your question debt.

thanks for the review! You saved me from reading the story, for the author please avoid erasing 1-star reviews ... in the same way, seeing how everything is going, I suppose that the MC never took revenge on the person who enslaved him, something quite recurrent in many novels that the protagonists never take revenge on this kind of thing ...
