What do you mean by DxD can't function without a harem? It is perfectly fine to be in DxD without a harem. It might not attract readers, but it is certainly possible. DxD doesn't need a harem it's the people who read it that make it sterotypical. Yeah, people can live in their fantasies but when their fantasies are about getting every woman in the world, I think we'd need to show them realism.

The whole premis Of DxD is that the stronger you are the more girls you attract. Yes you can do a single pairing, but not attracting other girls does not fall along with the worlds intended laws. it’ll just be AU, If the writer doesnt write it well enough and has a valid reason.
