Over all this book is okay. Had potential but didn’t really hit. If you like a book basically full of solely cultivation and describing cultivation, you will like it. If you want a more in depth world and story, it might not be for you. I give it a 4 on writing, 3 on chracters, 1 on world building, and 2 on story developement. The world building is incomplete, the author introduces a bunch of different realms but makes the characters simply cultivate in boring sub spaces. Rinse and repeat. We aren’t introduced to anything about the realms really. Only some powers in them and that’s about it. The only time he actually travels is to zoom around killing people or finding places to trains. We meet some character from the realms but for the most part they hold no importance except to direct the MC (and us) about the stages of cultivation and where to cultivate. The chracter development for the main chracter is meh and the side chracters aren’t around enough to make a comment. The main character starts off decent, he then turns arrogant, which is okay but the only reason he gets out of those situations is due to the cultivation style plot armour(different power than the rest = stronger). This happens a lot is novels so it’s not that bad but I found the way he got stronger to be too easy. He simply needs go to a sub space, find a power he likes, instantly understand it and repeat. The story itself started pretty good but the driving factors for the MC to continue moving forward are a bit weak and kind of forced as the story progresses. The first time he gets separated from his loved ones was a decent story point but the second time was forced and threw me off majorly. There are also a lot of things the MC wants to do, makes plans to do, sets things up to do, and then simply doesn’t do it. For example, he wanted to create his own power and started but that lasted for like 20 ch before it just didn’t happen basically for no reason. He also says he wants revenge a lot but doesn’t do it at all really, besides a few times for the side chracters. His chracter is developed into someone who doesn’t want to be told what to do (hates it when people try to make him do something) and he hates it when people do anything to his companions. Enter a Being who literally does both of those by taking his companions simply to force him to be stronger faster because they are tired of waiting for him. That is the two things he hates the most, so he swears revenge only to do absolutely nothing to that person when they meet. I get it wasn’t a bad thing for his companions but it was so forced and frustrating when they were taken and frustrating when he literally did nothing about it. The cultivation system is a mess. I get what the author wanted but when you literally need to include comments in brackets to explain things, your are making it complicated and cumbersome to read. To make it harder, after you sort of get used to the system, it changes again. The worst thing is that they all move through each stage so fast that it really isn’t worthwhile to keep track of it all. You also don’t really see how each stage is better than the rest, it easy to understand that they are stronger levels, but that’s all you can really say about it. In most other novels you will see a struggle to over come these differences, especially when an enemy is much stronger, but all enemies die so fast it doesn’t even matter. we don’t see those differences at all.

Hi, would you like to check out my 3rd book, Re: Love & Magic? If so, you will know how much i improved :) The Tale of the Void Emperor was my first story and when i started writing, i didn't know two hoot about it and didn't think much until i reached the later part of the story. However, when you read my 2nd or 3rd (especially 3rd) book, you will come to know how much they are better than the first one xD I hope you do check it out. I literally agree with those points you made but none of those problems have or will appear in my 2nd or 3rd story :D Happy reading and thanks for the review.
