i have read this novel till 1009 chapter. it good bfr this but in my latest reading till fight story (in chapter 1009) the mc become more reckless like typical cultivation novel mc.prior to this mc has quite daring personality but this time it like mc power make him think he can do anything. so he challenge someone above him even though it only one realm above him. the power system in this novel is quite clear. so his action imo is like suicide or masochist tendency.

Not just that, the point is that if you're an emperor and you experience empyrean power for the first time, you get overwhelmed mentally by your power. And when other people simulated the battle, they got more "drunk" with power than Wang Wei. This is a completely intentional decision by the novel. But who knows, maybe Wang Wei will become drunk on power and then get slapped around until he gets a handle on himself.

I think that's implied that Wang Wei became a bit reckless, because when Wang Wei took the pill, he now knew how cultivators got "lost in their power". And when the other cultivators tried the battle, they got "more lost than Wang Wei". However, Wang Wei should be given credit, because to be fair, he did achieve all of his goals in this fight, and made a lot of precautions. The most fascinating part about this novel is that Wang Wei doesn't win every battle.
