This novel is quite well written if you don’t mind having an MC clad in a freaking suit of plot armor. John is so unbelievably lucky that it’s quite frankly disturbing. The author try to explain John luck with him going through some pain to get some gain, but its still an absurd golden finger. Every single possible cheat find it’s way in John’s hands...

LIKEYeah but while Lightning is the Only Way is a great novel, its also a constant depression induced journey, which this one is not. I like stories where the MC gets lucky, or how else is he supposed to rise above everyone else? Just hard work? That's not how life works. Luck and hard work are equally important. Otherwise, you'd be reading "The story of the average person," or "The story of the boy who died at 15 because he had no luck." Your criticism is fair, and I understand some people don't like plot armor, but in my opinion its necessary and more believable than someone rising to the top without getting lucky at all.
Bored_Raccoon:They’re not all like that. Take Lightning is the only way for exemple.

He's not talking about ordinary luck, he's talking about exaggerated luck, and I agree with him that being the champ is always the ultimate and biggest winner is a very negative thing.
