So far, I've read revamp 1-8, and honestly, I'm not impressed. Compared to pre-revamp, it's just kinda fallen apart. With the revamp, the story loses its value by simply treating itself like a joke *too much.* The original seriousness of the first few chapters fitted the situation far better. Even if you decided that the overall direction the story was going wasn't what you wanted, reducing the amount of fourth-wall breaking and restoring some of the "wtf is wrong with you" mentality would do the beginning some good. For instance, reducing the spontaneous flirting to a minimum, or a "damnit, this is the only way he'll listen", while maintaining that divergence through the same means of just making a mad dash out of there. It just felt like the entire setting turned from "oh, shit, I just died", to "who cares". I also understand that some of this is personal bias talking here, having read the original, but even comedy needs some seriousness in order to function. Not to mention, but why would people act so naive and scummy? It's pulling from the living and dead, so wouldn't it be pretty obvious that it's not "just a game" really quickly to the "players"? Finally, what happened to the prologue bit of him being alive? I'd say that's pretty important for showing people what kind of character and world you're running with.
