An innovative and resplendent take on the Xuanhuan genre. The author clearly strives to make it an epic masterpiece, with his surprisingly original cultivation system and engrossing world. Slow at first glance, but the first chapter definitely hooks in the reader and the more you read, the more you want to know what the next chapter brings. Most chapters even are not remotely considered filler, as they have some meaning later on. This is a writing technique used by the author I've never seen before in any other web novel, in which he uses "fluff" chapters to insert meaningful information that will tie in together. It's genuinely amazing. PoS is also devoid of most of the commonplace tropes you find in such novels, and even it's archetypal characters do not bleed into stereotypes. All of the major characters in PoS have well-established traits and personalities, along with motivations. In regards to the story development, PoS excels in this regard. There is never a moment where you feel that one scene or event is out-of-place. As for the world building, this novel has one of the best I've seen in my entire life - whether that be in regards to web novels or light novel, It’s lore really does make you feel as though you're reading about the story of a person who is actually real, in a real other world. All the sects/hegemonies/realms and lore tie in very neatly. The world was very obviously planned out by the author from the start. As you keep reading and moving forward with our MC, it is wonderful seeing the world unfolding itself before your eyes. The novel also has great foreshadowing and builds dramatic tension and suspense throughout the story compelling the reader to pay close attention to details. the protagonist of this novel, Wei Wuyin is definitely a spotlight, i love how he is smart, cautious, quite shameless, witty, and reasonably powerful. He has a clear main goal, moral code and multitude of realistic elements added to him. Other side characters aren't just cannon fodder either, they have real and unique personalities, goals and ambitions, characters with their personalities perfectly fleshed out in my opinion. The author also nails it with his detailed descriptions and character design. I love how we as a reader can distinctly see the substantial improvements in his writing style from his previous work . He has the capacity to mold this novel into a thrilling tale, and i am glad to have found him. He as far as i know could even compete with the best authors in the business like Teng Jia, IET, Er Gen and Cuttlefish. My main criticism for this novel is that the romance is unsatisfactory to put it at best and to add to that it is a harem novel. I know for a fact that the female leads aren't under developed or irritating per say so i really can't put my finger on why i dislike them; maybe it is cuz of the fact that the major part of the harem are ex-lovers or romantic interests of another prominent character in this novel and that the the subtle Netorare elements puts me off or even that the lack of 'Puppy love' is not something i am used to. I don't know why. The author does admit that he took a more realistic approach to the genre and while it may not be to my liking it is intriguing none the less. The author makes sure to convey that 'Genuine love' has no part in this novel at all , like when once asked why he wants to marry Xue Yifei a love interest our protagonist blatantly replied that it was cuz she was a breathtaking beauty, pretty enough to conjure the envy of every man in the world and when asked the same she replies back that she is willing to become his wife as he is a competent, handsome and a illustrious man who could support her cultivation and endeavors; the main character sees no wrong in her reason at all cause he would have done the same if he was in her shoes, like he quotes numerous of times "cultivation is hard" and shaming women for using their prospects to ride a dragons lap to success isn't
