This is one of the review from novel-updates """ It's tolerable for the first 150 chapters, I read 150 - 400 chapters simply because I invested time into the story and didnt want to drop it. Chapters 400 - 640 was pure sh*t and 640 is where I dropped it because all it was for the last 250 chapters was Chinese nationalism. From chapters 400+, the MC was supposed to work with american soldiers to save a journalist. After the MC saves the journalists, it is just american soldiers ****ting on china and the soldiers using derogatory terms towards the MC. After the mission to save the journalist was over they decide to kill the MC because he is Chinese (ofc). The MC kills all the American soldiers and goes back to china. The next mission is going to japan (you should know where this is going). Same thing as above. Chinese people abducted by Japanese people. Japanese people say sh*t bad sh*t about Chinese people. MC kills people for being evil. Next mission MC goes to america and fresh off the plane, people he knows are being bullied and insulted for being Chinese. I dropped the novel right there because all this novel became was some sick hate driven garbage. Im over it. """

LIKEYes but the main part is... the majority that are using this app are Americans followed by Philippines, Germany, Australia, Canada. With Americans being a bigger majority. It would be like what you said; itās the same with American moves with the other countries being the bad guys. Itās nationalism better to have a outsider be the enemy for having a different culture then to turn on our selfs. My own opinion is nationalism is nationalism, loads of novel (ones not on app this included) Iāve read have had nationalism and nationalism spamming its pages but Iāve reasoned it to be Iām not the target audience for this, the country I live in also does this also and puts its own twist on it, and as long as you are not preaching to me that I should acknowledge what you said just cuz you said it. Iām good. I donāt mind you promoting your country even at the expense of mine. As long as you can give facts and not just this is what Iāve heard.
Precheur:i mean i know it's cancerous, but isn't it the same with american movie with the bad russian boss/mafia//country ? I think they're both **** don't get me wrong. It was made for chinese so of course it's about china, and america isn't exactly the best friend with it.
It may be an app used by stranger, but you can't change the fact that it's originaly for the chinese my friend. Who woul have though it would work so much ? The little guy writing for the first time his novel on some unknown website in 2014 ? Please if it's nationalist or even any other sort of propaganda it's never realiste. When someone write how let's love all the others country cause everyone is kind and so beautiful, it's exactly the same as saying how all those bastard want to get us and they are just ant in front of us. Just to clarify this point here. It's not like if it was constantly in each novel the nationalism, so i think we can support it, just like we would with american/british/german/etc... propaganda. "As long as you can give facts and not just this is what Iāve heard." I don't think it's that easy.

This should be taken with no disrespect but I have trouble making out what your saying. But this is me just try to understand. This app is made for those that canāt read Chinese but mostly for those that read English. And Qidian is the app made for the Chinese. Both are own by Tencent in China. The little guy writing novel yes most donāt think that the same writing and drawing they did for fun would eat up being big hits. And I think your say propagandaās is nationalism, and I say they are different but based on the same foundation. They concern the image of a country. Propaganda mainly focusing on highlighting political issues or a point of view to further an agenda and sway the masses and nationalism is when one supports their own country and itās countries interest. When you say when someone writes that we should all love one another itās because they think of themselves as superior to everyone else? Maybe I do believe there are people with this twisted mentality. Some say peace and love for the sake of coexist other say, peace and love to control the masses itās a matter of perspective and whether you want to understand and cooperate. And in these Chinese novel there is sometimes a varying degree of it but as I mentioned itās just nationalism because unlike propaganda the author isnāt trying to push a particular political issue. They main support their country and itās interest. Sure they have American/Germans/etc. who hurt Chinese people and the MC promoteās his country interest by taking them down. But they arenāt misleading you into thinking American /Germany/etc. is evil they just need bad guys and they use them. The novel even uses its own people for bad guys making them do inhuman things. No one is better then the other. My last statement i know itās not easy, itās easy to say but itās difficult to do people most donāt want to give you facts and just dance around the issue. They curse you and the like, but if you can give facts then I donāt mind truly understand your point
My main issue with the nationalism stuff is, that it is repetitive. I do not mind one or two displays of nationalism from the author as long as it is kept in an interesting writing style. Just the same stuff happening every few chapters is not enjoyable to read. So far the novel "I Am A Prodigy" has been doing good work on that. The author there has named the opposing countries abstractly (though you can still guess which country is meant) and the way the MC shits on them is different every time. Another point which makes nationalism not as toxic is if there are at least some countries which keep good relationships and not just China against the World.
Certainly, this novel was written by Chinese, for Chinese. but there is someone who decided to translate it, right? and put it on this site? so for Americans, Europeans ...

I mean i'm sorry i don't speak well english and my pc letters are ****ed up so it make it even harder to explain. I think it can be considered propaganda when the writer use an extreme nationalism while making all the others country devils. I'm not saying they work for state but just like a guy who would write a fantasy novel and add his own perspective/ideology as an answer to a catastrophic situation. To resume there is propaganda when there are hidden meaning to the thing you do. And i was saying that it's everywere and everyone does it. Whether it's about extreme nationalism or even extreme globalization, it's the same. I was trying to say that there is a negative overtone to propaganda, and sometimes that blinds us to certain comments generally accepted as positive which, however, are also propaganda but not recognized as such. I mean in some on them their are saying that japaneses are evil like straight, so much that they kill them all. I even read one at one time where it was apocalypse and once MC saved the world and decided to leave, he told the guys lef behind to make sure no race other than the HAN survive by making law prohibiting reproduction for white/black/etc... How much of a bull**** and nosens is that bro. They won't ever traduce this one i think, so when people complain about the nationalism novel being traduced, bro much worse was written, so they don't translate it. From a guy who read on the actual chinese qidian the novel in chinese.

Personally, I don't mind books that have nationalism in it. However there are a lot of novels in which I feel that they misunderstand "nationalism" as full blown racism or making people from other nations seem to be complete assholes. I can understand as China has a whole generations worth of hate toward the Japanese people because of all the warcrimes and other **** they did during WW2.

Yes I feel the same, so far for this novel the nationalism is very little Iāve read maybe 4 or 5 parts of nationalism in the 253 chapters Iāve read so far. Even then the author puts come underhanded criticism towards China too. I say underhanded since the comments come from foreigners. I gotta day if you really want to hear a novel that has a lot of nationalism to the point even I find almost unbearable is āI am a prodigyā itās almost China this and China that almost ever 10-8 chapters.

I just want to add that while in most case they made it look like the americans are racist toward chinese, they do it with almost all country. Just casual reading of these novel made it seem like every single country is looking down and can not wait to insult chineses.
