Actually this is common and it was even thought from the beginning that they were together since at first Gwen was not going to be his cousin or a blood relative, only the daughter of some family friends who had been commissioned to take care of Uncle Ben So although each had their romantic tense moments, they even remained that way in the script until Ben 10 Universe: 3
