I have just started the first novel. Though I've heard complaints as long as it's not that 'reverse rape' and no harem I think I'll like this then. I saw the Anime trailer as well. So this is the Sequel? Would it live up to the first one? Or is it done by a different Author this time? It's weird seeing sequels for these type of genre. Reminds me of PMG.

LIKEYes, this is a sequel. I strongly recommend that you read the previous novel, otherwise you will not understand much. If you don't want to, read the wiki about the character and the novel so you can understand, and read this one. And unlike the other novels where the protagonist has supreme techniques, infinite luck and can defeat enemies with 2 levels of cultivation ahead and etc; in this novel, the protagonist is not special and is just one of the billions of cultivators trying to raise the level of cultivation and ascend to higher realms. There is no harem, rape and other infinite clichés that you see in an ordinary wuxia novel. Try it
but in the first he and his future partner in dao s3x under Ink flood dragon (jiaolong) blood or smthing effects after more than 100 chaps his future partner suck his cultivation for survive what probably permite him to construc a better base and get the nucleus or golden core realm
