For a story that's just started the pacing is very good. The world background is gradually being explained. Since this is part of a series, there is references and explanations here that aren't mentioned with the other book. Making up for the lack of world background there. The authors allows us readers to understand the characters thought process in more detail than most authors write about. Overall a good story, hope the author keeps up the good work.
