I was recommended to review this honestly. I struggled reading this to ch 69 and was warned about the grammar but it's honestly not so bad. Awkward to read more than 1/3 of the time but still better than half the stories in this genre. A lot better than the synopsis would lead you to believe. It seems some readers are understandably confused and here's why I think why. This author seems like they really loved binge watching daytime Asian television dramas. It's as if they're trying to fit in as much of the funniest/tingling/dramatic/hyped up but lackluster 'smexy' scenes they ever watched, read, and liked into each chapter. There's so much going on and it's all over the place. The main plot is not what's really focused here, it's the scenes. This romantic scene, this dramatic scene, it's all statement pieces and nowhere near enough support for them. It also reminds me of when famous authors like RR. Martin spends 3+ Pages describing a woman's dress or a plate of food, then does something else very important in just 2 Lines. The author does this sort of thing all the time. Time, POV and characters talking also abruptly cuts and jumps around. You're often left lost over which character is being referred to or talked about. Sometimes it's done on purpose, to build this mystery/intrigue but for the most part it's not. Like a game of multiplayer ping pong. Which is a shame because the plot has a lot of great dramatic potential! Who doesn't like a family/love/power drama? The author is obviously having fun with it and it's getting more and more exciting. But they focus so much on the scenes, and cramming them in, rather than give attention to the overall work or the transitions to hold things together. We also don't delve enough into the characters themselves, we get their roles. Side characters are always coming in to add more layers and details, which is great. But it definitely gets distracting when we're focused on 'action scene' 'long beauty explanation' 'scene' 'drama' 'funny scene' without transitions to move them along. Before we can find our bearings we skip to a whole different scene with more side characters to try to remember. The MC and ML are getting better, more fleshed out over time, but they deserve more. Hard to do with all the fan service scenes and long winded details. Sometimes our 'crazy', brilliant, and depressed MC talks like a flightly 14 year old fangirl, sometimes the ML is a pretty lampshade with no personality outside tropes. They have shown to be and can be much more. There's so much potential because there are twins, love triangles, inheritances, babies, power structure, royalty?- so much drama potential. But it doesn't, cannot hold in all the clutter. To give a simpler visual image- this novel is like a social media compilation of a lot of 'viral' videos rather than a single working movie or show. Yes it can be entertaining at parts but it's not something whole that can stand alone. I am not judging based on the genre/trope but on the author's organization and presentation, which is awkwardly overflowing. As well as thought out and detailed as the plot is, the delivery has it reading like a B- rated translated novel. A lot of good plot content yes, but in my ******* but honest opinion, not a good novel yet. I don't wish to discourage or dampen the good mood because the author is very much having fun with this and spreading enjoyment. That is ultimately what really matters. They have more than enough time to edit and polish.
