Review Detail of ShadowQuill in My House of Horrors

This story legit got me into Horror as a genre. I put this on the level of Lord of the Mysteries, and this seriously deserves to be in the top ranks, or top itself. I am a scaredy cat unable to watch anything Horror. Terminator 2 used to make me jump at the intro for crying out loud! This story is scary… but not in the way that makes you too scared to keep reading. It’s a tantalizing fear, like the MC’s own courage and calm are a lifeline, so the reader feels okay as we go deeper and deeper… you feel shivers, goosebumps, tingles down your spine and see things in the shadows that are not there… but you are never scared away. I think the mystery helps, because even as this story makes my heart jump out of my chest, it scratches my curiosity, makes me wonder at the world, the rules to the spectral and dead, why things work the way they do, and how what is currently going on will play out into the grand mystery overarching everything. This novel would not work as a pure horror. It would be downright terrifying, and anyone into scarong themselves would still love it. But the real reason this novel is as loved and lauded as it is? The beautiful mix of mystery and horror. You genuinely laugh at seeing how other characters get scared when you as a reader are not cause all the ghosts being scary are ones you know and know are friendly. You genuinely get intrigued and invested when the mystery develops, and are invested in what is going on under the surface, making as many predictions as you can! This novel is special, not just as a work of passion, not just as s good scare, a good laugh, or something written, translated, amd edited by the many hands of Gods of this industry. Its the miraculous harmony of it all, the culmination that will bring you in, that will make you an addict the second the first mission is complete. Because the second that first mission from the system happens? Your heart beats. Your mind thinks. You admire the character, even as you wonder if he is totally bananas. You predict, you wonder, you shake in fear… And suddenly the one on the other side of your mirror is no longer your reflection. ~Fear and curiosity go hand in hand, to bring devil close to man. Fear not child, for mystery shall guide your feet.~
