No that would break his story's spine and break the emersion. Introducing new world always f-ed up main story. Very few extremely veteran writers can handle this. Alternatively he can go UBI soft earlier AC non linear story mode with Animus, cautiously. Basically in dreams he has to play Whole AC proper cannon that mean up to black flag without cheat, non auto heal able hp, realistic and real life mode. It entitled but not limited to while in viewing rage he can't jump to bush, haystack or hiding place, no open and flash assassination, no one vs entire garrison. Also remember even a proper outer member of a knightly order, is powerful and if he has armor he is tank. Anointed knights are freaking OP. They are agile juggernaut. They start their training as early as 5 years old and they simply didn't get knighted just because his training is over in his early to mid twenties with several bandit hunting, rebellion suppression under his belt. Which in turns forces MC avoid fighting or getting sighted by any knightly order. Yet he has to assassinate knights even dreaded master and Grand Master of a knightly order. So basically Asian Nightmare Hell difficulty. Where he can earn system point buy necessary skills, body modification potion (becoming low to mid tier super human), memory enhancement etc. As I feel it would not break his storyline.

Unfortunately it's too late for that, restart will call boredom and subsequent abandonment. All we can do is help him navigate his block and maybe polish and streamline his story and arcs. He already puts too much effort to rewrite. I think he should hold a q&a session and after major point sorted out held brainstorming session. I have just one advice tone down or maybe throw out all the edginess out of next chapter pretend the rabbit chapter never happened
