The placement of your comment was in the paragraph comments, not in the general comments, and was not asking about specific part of the paragraph, as well as had the 'I am an author/new author' (I am paraphrasing this quote since I do not remember the original line and you deleted that comment). But it is not even that. There are many ways to engage with other authors. But not in the comments under their book asking for advice. Since, A. It was clear from your comment you did not have a personal connection with the author, and B. you did not comment on the contents of the book at all, making it a simple self-promotion on a popular book. I read on reddit that there is a Discord for authors, where such a request would be more appropriate, though still not completely until you more or less know each other. Using lines such as "you wouldn't understand" implies intellectual or moral superiority, and cuts off further dialogue, not a behavior someone with "learning or seeking knowledge" attitude. I was just saying that it is good to have some self-respect as well as respect for others and the integrity of their work.
