He could lie because the spell let's Sunny lie to himself.
G3 already told us how many. That's why there were so many challengers at the start of the nightmare.
I have seen wayyyy too many comments saying, "Yeah, Sunny NEEDS to break out of Shadow Bond" and this is going to be a monkeys paw. This series has made it clear in its very premise that for every gift, there is a flaw. The wish is going to come at a cost worse than what he gets. Not to mention the story going out of the way to say "be careful what you wish for"
Quick thought that my wife had. Is Cassie in Heart God's domain? Mordret told Sunny not to say Asteron's name, or else he might hear Sunny. Who hears and sees everything like an oracle who can use other people's senses? We know Asteron kept Nephis alive from the other Sovereigns and that he is collecting Divine aspect holders. Isn't it just fortunate that Cassie happened to end up by not just one, but TWO people with Divine aspects? It also makes sense as to why she wanted Mordret free. Also she seems waaaaayy too good at pulling on heart strings. At this point, I would have to be convinced that she's not.
So random theory on the Sin of Solace. You know how the Daemons are the flaws of the Gods? Do you think, given the nature of Sinny, to expose truths to its weilder, that Sunny might make Sinny it's own body, and figure out a way to make his flaw it's own person? His flaw lines up with Sinny.
The estuary key prevents the SoS from sharing the secret of corruption. If Cassie was corrupted, Sunny would be able to see it in her soul.
Because the Sin of Solace knows truths. There is a truth being shown he doesn't want to know.
I wish I could award you for this comment.
