This is what I’m thinking too. Especially after (I forget which chapter) they resurrected the oak tree and Maxi’s comment was “No matter how lifeless something seems, there’s still life left in it.” I think Riftan is going to be gravely injured by the dragon and Maxi is going to have to save him Pikachu in the first Pokémon movie style.
