Chapter 1616 explicitly states he is rusty when it comes to fighting humans so I think she is matching him in swordsmanship.

I think it is related to longing. And I think when she becomes a sovereign her domain will also be a conceptual one centered around hope/longing as opposed to a territorial domain like Anvil or Song.
For Sunny, that element was shadow. For someone like Saint Tyris, it was the sky, or perhaps storm clouds. For someone like Nephis… he couldn't guess. It might have been light, or flame, or something more esoteric, like inspiring longing in the souls of other beings. - Adam_53718dCommented

I think there are 2 sets of lies here: 1. He is implying he will join Nephis regardless of whether she leaves a scratch 2. He did not give Mordret a chance to leave a scratch.

I love the smaller wholesome moments like this. Tyris comes off as a cold and distant so it is nice to see stuff like this where you see she is a human like any other who loves her partner.

I’m guessing it will be a light/friendly spar focused on swordsmanship without either of them using their aspects (similar to the dreamscape queen bee fight) and nephis realizes his swordsmanship is derived from her own style.

I wonder if/how they clash. I don’t think it will be a serious fight because 1) he is in love with her and 2) using her aspect means she would be torturing herself. I don’t think sunny wants her to be in pain because of him.

But just a couple of chapters ago Sunny mentioned how painful it was to meet the cohort and how it was reasonable to avoid them. If he was planning to put himself in the center of the conflict it seems impossible to avoid meeting Nephis and Cassie. He cannot hide in the shadows either if he intends to keep the citadel in his control. I wonder what he is thinking.

Nah I plan on finishing it. I am having fun reading the fanfic. Shadow Slave need more slice of life bits and that’s what I am getting here. I am also enjoying the dumb dad jokes. I have saved a couple of them to annoy my niece the next time she visits.

One of the previous chapters mentioned flaws are related to who you are as a person and I have noticed this in Shadow Slave too - Sunny always lies so he is forced to tell the truth. Nephis wants to destroy the spell and change the world at any cost but to do so she has to punish herself. Effie wants to live life so her desires are amplified. If the above is true I am interested in what this flaw tells us about Noble as a character. In any case interesting flaw!
