I think the author underestimated the stupidity of fanatic fans. They could find all the reasons just to defend the one they follow. Of course, their reaction could also be the result/effect of the MC's roleplay that made them believe easily.
As an introvert, I would've felt annoyed at the man, even though he meant no harm. I get that he was worried, but he was so chatty that it made me feel uncomfortable and cringe reading it, especially when it was all him assuming things.
The options sucks and are unbalanced, even more so is the choice he chooses.
In fact, if the author would write something like that, he should've just made his name Red from the start, anyway, the MC isn't a canon character of HP, but no— he made a nonsensical plot like this, is it just to increase the number of words? And I don't think, it would be for character development.
