    Author, I have an idea that you might want to implement into your story. You mentioned that low rank players can’t get magic due to low mana. I’m thinking in one of the future games with plenty of magic, you can divide the magic spells and abilities for cheaper magic. So far, from the abilities we’ve seen, it seems like a magic ability is either all or nothing, dramatically increasing mana costs. I’m thinking, in a game like Dark Souls or Elden Ring, you divide the magic into however-many main categories, that I will call schools. Using Dark Souls 2 as an example, you could divide magic into the Sorcery, Miracles, Pyromancy, and Hexes schools. You can divide them even further into magic families, such as crystal sorcery, or chaos pyromancy. To take it another step, divide them again into spells like combustion, magic bolt, and lightning spear. Then, if a low rank player wants to use magic, they don’t have to pay for all of a certain type of magic, but one singular spell. Maybe you can even shave a bit more mana off the top if you have the mc make it so that they can only get that certain spell or family or whatever if the player already has it in game!
