It's always good to take a break, it helps both mentally and physically, to rest and relax, to beat up the trolls.
There is also the fact that by silencing Maxi an inconsistency would be generated, because in a certain part of the story the protagonist shows that the objective is for Maxi to realize that he is really good and does not really seek to be a supervillain, rather some kind of antihero.
From what I understand of the protagonist and from how the plot has developed so far, I would not silence Maxi's soul, because it would condemn him to be in the void of the subconscious, where, according to the nameless woman. you won't see, hear or feel anything, which is the same as torturing him, causing his consciousness to deteriorate from being alone without any interaction, also the fact that he took his body from him, and finally, that he doesn't align with the goals and the antihero character of the protagonist.
A Jedi doesn't work because of their moral and ascetic doctrines, while a Sith also doesn't work because of their evil and rampant nature. But, on the other hand, presenting a love interest like an elf or Fay mentioned in other comments would be more organic and easy to justify, due to the characteristics of the Mc and his origins, etc.
