I mean he creates the shadowspawn figure in front of him and gifts it a soul core(like our pal mordy) and it becomes alive independently, I reckon the shadow Saint from 2nd nightmare who we never got to see did this as nightmare and shadowspawn were alive long after his death, when sunny dies Saint nightmare imp and Snake go with him. possibly a longer process involved but you get the picture
