But if she detonated, she would kill off the 7 Masters who are accompanying her.
Nephis has met Saint (again), and Saint's presence is powerful. If Sunny had wrapped his spare shadows around Saint, that would have given her a power boost. Now, what if Saint disappears into the darkness, and a demonic horse (augmented with shadows) appears, followed by Shadow Dragon and Fiend, before Nephis and party encounter the Lord of Shadows himself. That would be an effective way for Sunny to misrepresent his actual battle strength.
The extra pressure could be from Saint now being a Soverign, but a simpler answer is that she has 4 shadows from a Transcendent Saint augmenting her.
Soul Reaper can see Skinwalker too...
So much for the idea that Mordret possibly remembered Sunless. Mordret would have had an even rougher time trying to possess Sunny's soul this time around.
This would explain how the rumors of the Lord of Shadows reached the ears of the King of Swords...
And just like that, the smile on Sunny's face is wiped off...
Rain would have moved wherever her adoptive father had been transferred to. He was a government worker after all.
Someone in the comments in the previous chapter remembered...
Sigh, is this a clue that the 4 years of peace and quiet are coming to an end? I can see Raised by Wolves and Soul Reaper being called for a meeting with Valor to help with a developing situation. Some citadel with a Great Devil has had its guardian killed off, and none of Valor's seers, not even Cassie, can see who or what killed it off. It seems empty, but they know that there has to be a significantly powerful being there, so Valor asked the government Saints for backup in their scouting force...
It was likely the first thing he did, to test drive his new Transcendent powers.
Really? I heard they were looking for Nobody..
Of course he killed the Winter Beast. Our favorite cockroach in vindictive and spiteful, never one to let a grudge go. Besides, he now has the strength of 7 Saints...
So, up to this point, Sunless has assumed that all of the events that he has encountered have been manipulated by the Mad Prince. However, I am starting to question how much of this has been from Sunless' defiled form and how much manipulation Soul Stealer has done behind the scenes. Also, as others have already concluded, Mordret's motivations are not aligned with the rest of the cohort.
Sunny had tried to make a memory out of a large gun but failed because it was too complex. I'm pretty sure the ship is more complicated than a gun.
Not gonna lie, last chapter I was disappointed that our protagonist didn't get his typical kill steal and whatever reward, but Jet reaping this reward is more satisfying.
