I believe it's because it appeared too many times at the start of the novel and some people (me included) are already pregudiced against the whole "beta", "alpha", "sigma" mindset. The 1st time I could overlook it, the 2nd time I was annoyed and by the 3rd time in 6 chapters I decided to find something else to read as the frequency of it coming up didn't bode well for the rest of the novel. If its as you said it doesn't come up much in the rest of the chapters, I'll give it another read.

Okay thanks, that's it, I'm dropping it. I just started the 400th chapter and the only thing that kept me going was the hope that he'd finally start to get strong since he's actually moving about in the world now. Or at least marginally stronger than his group members since he's the MC and their leader. But you're saying at chapter 790 he's not even one of the strongest beings in the realm? Not even the world he's in, just one realm and he's not one the top dogs yet? How can the author be stretching out his starter arc so much when he's got such an overpowered ability. That's just a waste at this point.
