Right, I made a mistake. The fifth was supposed to be the sixth. He already broke through to the fourth level and so 2 more would make it 6. Then breaking through 2 more times would make it 8.

Maybe because they were underground? Maybe because they reproduce VERY quickly? I'm pretty sure I mentioned that its a new era. The Heavens are forcing the birth of more powerful geniuses. As the saying goes, the young surpasses the old (I think that's a saying I'm not sure).

Do you mean the battle prowess? I explained how the battle prowess works a bit I'm pretty sure at the bottom of chapter 30. Each realm of battle prowess equals 9 minor realms, so someone at the first level of foundation can rival an ordinary cultivator at the ninth. The bird man has 6 realms of battle prowess meaning he has 54 minor realm of combat prowess. This does not mean he can actually fight someone 6 major realms ahead of him though. Between each level there is a huge chasm and it only increases with each realm. I hope this explains everything and cleared your doubts.

And now I just finished the cultivation realms. I will probably have to look at this very often in the future.

I like to think of it as a moderate amount. Plus, I'm not done with the cultivation realms yet...
