Riftan thought all that she suffered (as well as what she is going to experienceā¦) is because she married her. He put all her pain on his shoulder. You will see his logic shortlyā¦ it is sad but beautiful I would say, it is his way of loving

This paragraph is so important I think. It is the philosophy of the story, the journey that Maxi is undertaking right now, and is the hint to the result - with all the pain and suffer, she is going to be strong and capable. She will be free to take on any journey that she wants to.
"I am t-truly all right. Even if I were to heal my hands with magicā¦ they would likely get chafed again once I get back on my horse, do you not agree? And it would not d-do for me to heal them every time it happens. Though it might be painfulā¦ it would be best to let my body get used to it. Then it will be a boring story and she will never become the great mage as she turns into in book 2 š
If she succeeded in convincing Riftan to take her along, would she also have to prepare meals for the men and tend to their horses? Maxi felt a dark cloud form over her; she had never cooked anything in her life. - Mcchk1yrCommented

Spoiler**** Soon enough (book2) she will realize Pricessesās fire magic is terribly useless in front of almost any kind of strong monsters because of magic resistant, and especially the red dragon, who is basically the fire itself š Maxi be yourself, your special ability is the most precious in the battle field
Maxi's shoulders sagged. She had secretly expected to see powerful runes similar to Princess Agnes's fire magic. Then again, even if she were to learn such amazing skills, she would only be able to summon a spark no bigger than candlelight with her current mana. The only magic she was capable of executing at present was healing, detoxification, and restorative magic. She had not been able to make any significant progress with anything else.
