This was a stark difference that Cane could see. Now he finally saw how bad the situation with his pack members was. Being thrown into the dungeon was not a simple punishment, as it brought back a lot of traumatizing memories for all of them. It was a place they didn't want to visit, and now the Alpha was being so cruel by sending them back there for a simple matter. The more she was being nice and smiling at him, the more his heinous acts continued to plague his mind. It was definitely so wrong on so many levels for Cane to seek comfort from her, but she was the only person who could give him such a feeling. - March_Garcia1mthCommented

Probably, the scar on his face and also how cold and collected he was had a major say in making people think twice before they tried to approach him. But in reality, it worked to Cane's benefit as well, as he didn't want anyone to approach him recklessly.
