Why worry so much about the reasoning behind the actions of a ungrateful sister. If you focus so much on the reasoning you might never find a answer that would make sense. Instead let go and try to live a life you would find comfortable. Someone else's opinions and actions don't matter if you are confident and happy with your choices in life.

For people like that having everything is never enough. They have to be the only one that gets anything. It also probably doesn't help that the main character looks like her.

I think it is fine. The main character is reading her own story up till the point that she dies. Her words make it sound like someone else's story or multiple deaths. However if you were to read your own life story in book form I think it would sound the same.
Xiu Wanxue died at the age of twenty on the Snowy Mountain in the sect with the Frosty Heart Wrenching Poison, which was exactly the same as her death now.
